How to spend a Saturday in Houston, TX

So we went up to fly yesterday and it quickly became apparent that the winds, clouds, and turbulence were going to be an issue. We ended up flying just under 3 hrs before calling it quits.

We decided since we now had the afternoon off we'd go check out downtown Houston. We drove around and kinda scoped out the sights, and after a fruitless search for free parking, we dropped $5 to park in a lot. We were craving a frosty brew in the 70 degree weather and were told to check out Main St. (go figure). Well we obviously went the wrong way on main street because we didn't see anything. On a side note, though, they did have a really cool light rail through town with ponds and waterfalls and whatnot. Anyways, we ended up in a house of blues and order up a Fat Tire... ouch $6 a piece. The bartender was a cool guy and told us about a place called Flying Saucer that had an outrageous beer selection. This whole time in Oklahoma half the bars only had crappy domestic and Shiner Bock on tap, so this sounded perfect.

This place was amazing. Something like 250 beers and 180 on tap. I had a sampler of 5 small beers, an Oktoberfest beer from Munich, some kind of a wheat beer from Europe somewhere, something else I can't remember... anyways, we were now rubber legged and decided to walk around town to burn off the buzz.

We're walking around, checking out the city, and we see some guys coming out of a hotel and people getting autographs. We asked some people who it was and they said it was the Miami Heat leaving their hotel to play the Houston Rockets. Well, we decided that'd be a good way to kill time and have some fun. We walked to the Toyota Center only to find out the cheapest tickets they had were $120 a piece. No thanks, poor pilots. There were, however, numerous scalpers hocking tickets. We went over and they wanted $100 a piece and we said no deal. We still had 2 hrs to game time so we decided to wait it out until they started getting desperate. Long story short, we got those "$100 tickets" for $35. Boo ya! And to make it better, we snuck down to some empty seats lower level, 10 rows up. Ha!

Well, the Rockets won and we realized we forgot where we parked our car. We did eventually find it after meandering for a half hour.

Anyways, that was my Saturday night in Houston.
