News on my first destination...

So I thought I'd give an update on how things are going and whats coming up.

I've been in Batavia, NY for 2 1/2 weeks now. Batavia sucks. Don't come here. Don't be fooled: even though it is in New York state, its as close to NYC as Spokane is to Seattle. I finished training at the end of week one, and we've all been waiting for our first assigments since then. Some SNAFU with the customer service reps at Pictometry hung-chowed the start of the season, so our first assignments got pushed back 2 weeks. Lame. Well praise your mom, we finally got word of where we're headed to first.

There are actually 11 of us pilots and we are being split into 4 groups to start off. One group will be in St. Clous, MN; one in Grand Rapids, MI; one in upstate NY; and I will be flying to.... drumroll, please...... Denver, CO! At this point I have no idea if I'll be there for 3 days or 3 weeks, but I'm guessing around a week to a week and a half or so (depending on weather). The plan is to split Batavia on Tuesday. My route of flight will take me through Ohio, Northen Indiana, Chicago, Iowa, Nebraska, and finally into Colorado. If I had big enough fuel tanks we'd be looking at around 13 hours to cover around 1300 nautical miles distance non-stop. My tanks only hold 50 gallons, so we're looking are a handful of refueling stops and probably one overnight stay, possibly in the Chicago area.

I'm pretty stoked, as you might guess. I'll drop more details about where specifically I'll be hangaring my plane, etc. when I know more.

xoxo
Zachary
